Funerals

Bereavement is a difficult time, but here at St Mary’s we’d like to help you in your grief. In the first instance, your funeral director will contact us and arrange a minister to conduct the service. He or she will visit you at home before the service, and will help you as you talk about the life of deceased and the type of service they would have liked.

We can offer you with a range of church services.  You may like a simple funeral service in church, or you may prefer a requiem mass before you go to the crematorium or graveyard, You can choose any special readings, songs and music (we can provide an organist, and have facilities for CDs) for the service.

The person who conducted the service, or from another authorized person from the church will contact you a few weeks later to see how you are getting on in your new situation. There is always opportunity to talk further should you require it.

On the 3rd Tuesday of every month we hold a  REFLECTIONS CAFE at 2 pm in the Green Goose Cafe in Mill Street.    This is a time for refreshment (both spiritual and cake) and friendship for those who are experiencing grief and loss of any sort.  Do come along if you'd like - it's in the upper room of the cafe, and refersehmenst are £3.50.
